This is undoubtedly one of the major reasons behind the downfall of Muslim Ummah. It was the teachings of Islam which for the first time rejected the culture of Superstitions and false traditions and emphasized on making decisions based on knowledge and intellectual inquiry. Allah S.W.T. says in Quran:
وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۚ إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُولَٰئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُولًا
And follow not that of which you have not the knowledge; surely the hearing and the sight and the mind, all of these, shall be questioned about that.
Quran Surah Isra 36
Allah S.W.T. has challenged the non-Muslims to bring forth proof if they are truthful. How can this be possible that basis of Islam who challenges the followers of any other ideology to bring proof is not firm on rational grounds?
وَقَالُوۡا لَنۡ يَّدۡخُلَ الۡجَـنَّةَ اِلَّا مَنۡ كَانَ هُوۡدًا اَوۡ نَصٰرٰىؕ تِلۡكَ اَمَانِيُّهُمۡؕ قُلۡ هَاتُوۡا بُرۡهَانَکُمۡ اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ
And they say: None shall enter the garden (or paradise) except he who is a Jew or a Christian. These are their vain desires. Say: Bring your proof if you are truthful.
Quran Surah Baqarah 111
Most important possession for a religious person is surely its imaan. If he believes that its basis is irrational, how can you convince him to be rational about other things in his life? This is the reason why Muslim Ummah has left rationality and instead adopted bling following and false traditions. The result of all this is that we are going through Muslim Dark Ages and unless and until we reject this irrational behavior and connect back to the intellectual roots of Imaan and Deen we won’t be able to get out of this state of decline.
